Understanding bipolar disorder

 What is bipolar?

Bipolar” is one of the most common mood disorders worldwide, accounting for approximately 1-2% of mental illnesses. The World Health Organization states that bipolar disorder is the 6th leading cause of loss of life due to illness or disability in the world. Shockingly, 1 patient in 5 usually ends their life by committing suicide.

Causes of bipolar disorder

Currently, it is believed that there are many causes of emotional disorders, which can be divided into:

 1. Biological factors include abnormalities in neurotransmitters in the brain, abnormalities in various hormonal systems in the body, abnormal sleep, abnormalities in the functioning of various parts of the brain related to emotional regulation.

 2. Psychosocial factors such as the inability to adapt to stress or various problems within life. It can also trigger emotional disorders.

However, social factors are not the cause of the disease but may trigger the disease to manifest itself.




 3. Genetic factors :From the study found that bipolar disorder is more common in families with bipolar disorder than in the general population

Symptoms of bipolar disorder

- unusually good mood

- unusually cheerful

- Can't sleep

- Talk a lot, talk fast

- Whoever is displeased will be annoyed.

- Have high confidence in yourself

- Spend extravagantly

- Have more sexual feelings

- unusually sad mood

- Sad, depressed

- Don't want to meet anyone.

- Don't want to do anything.

-  Think slowly, can't concentrate

- Negative thinking

-Think of yourself as worthles

-Suicidal thoughts



How to treat bipolar disorder

There is no cure for this disease, but symptoms can be treated to improve. The treatment of this disease is based on the symptoms and severity of the disease.

  The treatment methods include:

1.Consult a psychiatrist to receive medicine and medical treatment

2.Take medicine strictly as prescribed by your doctor and do not stop taking medicine yourself.

3.People around you should provide understanding and encouragement to the patient and must closely monitor you.
